Failure Analysis

We perform hundreds of failure investigations each year

With over a hundred years of combined experience our staff of Project Specialists performs failure investigations on a wide variety of components and materials. Hundreds of machined parts, castings, forgings, weldments, extrusions and other metal items are examined annually to determine the cause of failure and to provide commentary regarding future remedial action. It is during these investigations that the entire staff of Anderson Laboratories is utilized to provide information which will be used to develop both the failure mode and remedial scenarios. This is where experience counts. We bring together such factors as chemical composition, mechanical properties, examination of both the microstructure and fracture faces; all aspects of the investigatory process.

Our final product is a written report which presents the data and documents all phases of the investigation with complete digital photography. Each report contains a summary section, prepared in easy to understand language, explaining the various factors related to the failure and presenting applicable remedial action as appropriate.
