Mechanical Testing

Anderson Laboratories is geared up for high volume mechanical testing

If it's tensile, impact or hardness testing you require, Anderson Laboratories can handle all your needs. Our tensile capabilities range from several grams to 200,000 pounds force both in tension and compression. Precise sample preparation and the experience of our personnel ensure consistent sample geometry and surface finish. Our computer controlled testing equipment is capable of determining a variety of properties in both English and Metric units. Compliance to the appropriate ASTM, ASME, EN, JIS and other applicable specifications is of vital importance in obtaining accurate mechanical testing results.

Three primary testing techniques are used to determine physical properties. They are as follows:

  • Tensile: Determination of tensile strength, yield strength, % elongation and % reduction of area.
  • Impact: Impact testing is performed following the requirements of ASTM and ISO specifications. Specimens are machined and tested in accordance with ASTM E 23 and DIN/EN 10045 as dictated by the job requirement. We have three impact testing machines; two meeting the requirements of ASTM E 23 and one meeting DIN/EN and JIS specifications. Testing to the requirements of the 97/23/EC Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) as well as other codes and specifications is easily accomplished in our impact testing lab.
  • Hardness: Both micro and macro hardness testing is performed in our laboratory on a daily basis. Micro-hardness techniques include Knoop and Vickers and macro-hardness techniques employ Brinell, Rockwell, Rockwell superficial and macro Vickers testers. Portable hardness testing services are also available. All hardness equipment is computer controlled and enhanced for accuracy and repeatability.
